Privacy Policy

This policy explains what the iVelt Helper V2 browser extension ("the extension") does with your information. The extension is made by volunteers from the אייוועלט community. It is free, and its source code is public on GitHub.

1. Information stored in your browser

The extension uses your browser's local extension storage to keep:

• Your settings (which features are turned on, the Google Drive folder name, and similar options).
• A cached list of which forum topics have a linked comments topic.
• If you use the Google Drive feature: the name, email address and profile picture of the Google account you connected, so the extension can show you which account files will go to, and the ID of the folder it uploads to.
• If you use the Dropbox feature: the name, email address and profile picture of the Dropbox account you connected, and the sign-in token Dropbox gives the extension (see section 4).
• Diagnostic logs, only if you turn on debug mode. They leave your computer only if you copy them yourself.

This information never leaves your device. Uninstalling the extension deletes it.

2. The אייוועלט website

To show notifications, new-reply alerts, quotes and print views, the extension loads pages from ivelt.com (and its mirror domains) in your browser, using the login you already have there. The extension reads the ivelt.com login cookie only to check whether you are signed in, and to provide the quick sign-in and emergency sign-out buttons. This is the same traffic your browser sends when you visit the forum yourself. Nothing is sent anywhere else.

3. Google Drive upload (optional)

This feature is used only when you click the Google Drive button while writing a post.

• Sign-in: You connect an account through Google's own sign-in window, where you pick the account yourself. Before anything is uploaded, the extension shows the name and email of that account, so you can see where files will go and switch account or sign out at any time.
• Access token: Google gives the extension a temporary access token, valid for one hour, which it renews in the background. The extension keeps it only in the browser's temporary extension storage, which is cleared when you close the browser. It uses the token only to talk to Google Drive and never sends it anywhere else. Signing out in the extension deletes it and asks Google to revoke it.
• Limited access: The extension uses the drive.file permission. That means it can only see files and folders that it created itself. It cannot see, read or change any other file in your Drive. It also reads your account's name, email address, picture and free storage space from Google Drive, only to show them to you.
• What it does: It creates a folder (by default "iVelt Helper"), uploads the files you pick into it, and sets each uploaded file to "anyone with the link can view". It then inserts the link into your post.
• Public links: Anyone who has the link (for example, readers of your post) can view the file. To stop sharing a file, delete it or change its sharing settings in Google Drive.
• Where files go: Files go straight from your browser to your own Google Drive. They never pass through any server of ours.
• Revoking access: You can remove the extension's access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

iVelt Helper's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data from Google APIs is used only to provide the upload feature you asked for. It is not used for advertising, not sold, not read by people, and not transferred to anyone else.

4. Dropbox upload (optional)

This feature is used only when you choose Dropbox in the upload button while writing a post.

• Sign-in: You connect an account on Dropbox's own sign-in page. Before anything is uploaded, the extension shows the name and email of that account, so you can see where files will go and switch account or sign out at any time.
• Tokens: Dropbox gives the extension a long-lived sign-in token, so you don't have to sign in again. It is kept only in the extension's storage in your browser and is used only to talk to Dropbox. Short-lived access tokens made from it are kept only until you close the browser. Signing out in the extension deletes the tokens and asks Dropbox to revoke access.
• Limited access: The extension uses Dropbox's "App folder" access. It can only see its own folder (Apps/iVelt Helper) and cannot see, read or change anything else in your Dropbox. It also reads your account's name, email address, picture and free space, only to show them to you.
• What it does: It uploads the files you pick into that folder and creates a shared link for each one, which it inserts into your post.
• Public links: Anyone who has the link can view the file. To stop sharing a file, delete it or remove its link in Dropbox.
• Where files go: Files go straight from your browser to your own Dropbox. They never pass through any server of ours.
• Revoking access: You can remove the extension's access at any time in your Dropbox account under Settings → Connected apps.

Information received from Dropbox is used only to provide the upload feature you asked for. It is not used for advertising, not sold, not read by people, and not transferred to anyone else. Your use of Dropbox is also covered by Dropbox's Privacy Policy.

5. Other services

• Google Sheets: The extension downloads a public, read-only list of comment topics from a published Google Sheet. No information about you is included in that request.
• Google Search: When you use the built-in topic or site search, your search words are sent to Google Search, just as if you had searched there yourself.
• Browser notifications: If you turn them on, they are created by your browser on your device.

Your use of Google services is also covered by Google's Privacy Policy.

6. Children

The extension is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from them.

7. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. The full history is available on GitHub.
